Helping Homeless Families, Windermere associates donate funds to homeless families across the Northwest

Windermere's commitment to serving our communities goes beyond providing our buyers and sellers the best in real estate services. We also reach out through the Windermere Foundation to help address one of America's most pressing problems: homelessness.

Housing is our business

Providing housing and related services to help homeless families get back on their feet is a natural extension of our business. We furnish emergency and transitional housing for homeless families in the Northwest by giving funds to a variety of nonprofit social service agencies. Financial support from the Windermere Foundation includes funding emergency and transitional shelter projects and financing renovation expenses for existing facilities. Our contributions also subsidize the costs of health care, employment counseling, training and placement, and day care for many emergency and transitional shelters throughout the region.

Building a future for homeless children

Breaking the pattern of homelessness begins with making a difference in the lives of homeless children. The first step is a place for families to call home. Underwriting the costs of summer camp, as well as basic necessities such as new school shoes, socks, and underwear, are among the other projects the Windermere Foundation supports. We believe that building a child's self-esteem is an investment in our future.

Every transaction makes a difference

What makes the Foundation unique is the way it is funded. Every time a Windermere sales associate sells a home, a portion of the commission goes to the Windermere Foundation. Contributions are also made by salaried employees, Windermere owners and the public. The Windermere Foundation was established as a nonprofit organization in 1989. Since then, several million dollars have been contributed to nonprofit organizations dedicated to helping homeless families, with less than two percent going to administrative costs.
